Not far from Cannes lies the Pelagos Sanctuary, a vast protected area of the Mediterranean where whales and dolphins regularly appear. In summer, you can spot fin whales, the second‑largest animals on Earth, feeding in the plankton‑rich waters between Cannes, Saint‑Tropez, and Corsica. They are often accompanied by common dolphins and bottlenose dolphins, and with a bit of luck, you may also see sperm whales.
