Vernazza is often considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. It is certainly the most popular of the five villages of Cinque Terre. The architecture of the village is particularly interesting and typical of the old villages of Liguria. There are family churches, medieval ruins, loggias, defensive towers and arcades. The village is dominated by the famous Doria Tower and the remains of an 11th-century castle.
